IBFB Business Delegation Departs for USA on 30 May 2013
In view of exploring new business opportunities and giving a boost up to the existing business relationship, a 10-Member Business Delegation of the International Business Forum of Bangladesh (IBFB) departed for the USA via Turkey, for a 3 weeks visit from 30 May to 20 June 2013.
The delegation is headed by Mr. Mahmudul Islam Chowdhury, Founding President of IBFB, and Former Mayor of Chittagong & Former Member of Parliament. The other members of the delegation are Mr. Mohammad Ali Deen, Director IBFB, Chairman, M/S Deen Impex, and Managing Director, Ultimate Property Development Ltd, Mr. Mohammed Anowarul Haque Director IBFB, Proprietor, Rupali Agencies, Mr. A K M Ehsanul Hoque, Member IBFB, CEO, Mate International, Chairman, People’s Radio Md. Masud Hossain, Member IBFB, Director, Peoples Radio Ltd., Core Spun Apparel Ltd. Mr. Jamil Asadul Haque, Member IBFB, Managing Partner, Haque International, Style World Stitches, Mr. Rakebul Islam Bhuiyan, Member IBFB, Managing Partner, Organic Autos, Mr. Payer Mohammed, Member IBFB, Managing Director, Progressive Hatcheries and Poultry Farm Ltd., Mr. Mohammed Abu Alam, Member IBFB, Proprietor, Rupali Steel and Mr. Imran Uddin Sagar, Member IBFB, Director, Progressive Hatcheries & Poultry Farm Limited.

IBFB Business Delegation to the USA, headed by Mr. Mahmudul Islam Chowdhury, Founding President of IBFB, and Former Mayor of Chittagong City & Former Member of Parliament, called on the US Ambassador Dan W. Mozena on 29 May 2013. Mr. Hafizur Rahman Khan, President of IBFB, along with other delegation members, was also present in the meeting.
Prior to the USA visit, the delegation made a courtesy call on Hon’ble Finance Minister Mr. AMA Muhiton 25 May, 2013 at Bangladesh Secretariat. Hon’ble Minister requested the delegation to raise the point of continuation of GSP facility to Bangladesh in different forums during the visit. He said that the Bangladesh apparels are subject to 24% import duty in the USA market as against 5% they levy on garments and fabrics imported from developed country like France. He called the discrimination and threat to GSP withdrawal as illogical, unjust and unfair. The delegation assured the Hon’ble Minister to raise this issue in different forums of USA.
The delegations also met US Ambassador H. E. Dan William Mozena on 29 May, 2013 at US Embassy. Ambassador wished the delegation every success.
Mr. Hafizur Rahman Khan, President IBFB was also present at both the meetings of the delegation with Hon’ble Finance Minister & US Ambassador.
It may be mentioned that since inception IBFB is trying hard to contribute for economic development of the country.
The delegation will reach Los Angeles on 3rd June 2013. On 04 June, 2013 they will meet Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce and US-Bangladesh. Business Forum (USBBF) based in Los Angeles. They will also attend the reception to be given by Consul General of Bangladesh at Los Angeles. On 06 June, 2013 the delegation will reach Dallas. On 07 June, 2013 they will meet Richardson Economic Development Partnership, Texas and Bangladeshi Business Leaders. Reaching Washington DC on 10 June, 2013 the delegation will meet Department of State, Department of Commerce, American Chamber of Commerce, Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE), and Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS). They will be reaching New York on 14 June, 2013. In New York, the delegation will meet US-Bangladesh Business Partner (USBBP) & visit United Nations Head Quarter on 16 June, 2013. On 17 June, 2013 they will meet Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations.
The delegation will come back to Bangladesh on 20 June, 2013.
