Message from the Founding President

International Business Forum of Bangladesh (IBFB), founded in September 2005, started its noble journey with just seven members on board. Our primary objective was to work for unlocking hindrances for business and economy, inventing their pragmatic solutions and advocate for necessary policy reforms and thus creating an enabling business environment in the country constituted with accountability, transparency and good governance in all spheres of private and public affairs. Now when I look back, I can see the travel has a grand success with around 450 members just ahead of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of 2015 and 10th year of sustenance of IBFB.

Since its inception, IBFB has been playing a commendable role in identifying pressing business and economic challenges and carrying out effective business advocacy with pragmatic solutions and recommendations to the policy makers. It is my enormous pleasure to observe that IBFB has been acting as a platform not only of professionals engaged in trade, commerce and industry, but also of resource and knowledge based individuals like academia, members of the civil society, retired senior bureaucrats, journalists etc. With the invaluable supports and contributions from its members and other stakeholders, this organization is still growing and gradually being footed on its own ground. I do hope that IBFB, through its varied programs and activities, will remain as always an active and effective partner of the Government and policymakers as to foster ethical and good practices for sustainable growth and development of the country.

I would like to request wholeheartedly to all entrepreneurs and individuals willing to work for business and economy to unite under the umbrella of IBFB and work together to strengthen democracy, promote transparency and good governance, and create an enabling business environment required for ensuring economic development in the country.

With kindest regards,

Mahmudul Islam Chowdhury
Founding President, IBFB
