International Business Forum of Bangladesh (IBFB) gave a warm reception to Mr. Jon Danilowicz, the newly appointed Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) of the US Embassy in Bangladesh on Monday, 08 October 2012 at Radisson Blu Hotel, Dhaka.
Addressing him as a great well wisher of Bangladesh, Mr. Mahmudul Islam Chowdhury, Founding President of IBFB, recalled that Jon began his Foreign Service career as Vice Consul/Third Secretary in Dhaka from 1990 – 1992, and later served as the Department of State’s country desk officer for Bangladesh from 1997 – 1999. Prior to his current position as the DCM, Jon served previously in Dhaka as Counselor for Political and Economic Affairs from 2007 – 2011. Mr. Chowdhury wished him a grand success in his new endeavors as the new DCM of the US Embassy in Bangladesh. On behalf of IBFB, Mr. Humayun Rashid, IBFB Vice President (Finance) and Md. Omar Shafayat Kausar, IBFB Vice President greeted Mr. Jon Danilowicz with flowers and a crest respectively.

Mr. Jon Danilowicz, while addressing his remarks, recited his wonderful working experience in Bangladesh and hoped the country will be able to continue fostering its economic growth and development. He also said that the US government will continue its support and cooperation to Bangladesh in different socio-economic development issues such as health & hygiene, improving transparency & good governance, private sector development etc. he also hoped that IBFB, as a nationwide business forum, will continue its noble endeavors to create an enabling business environment in Bangladesh.
The reception was attended by distinguished leaders and personalities from different sectors including political parties, civil society and foreign diplomats. In addition to the Board of Directors and members of IBFB, Dr. Kamal Hossain, Mr. Tofael Ahmed MP, Mr. Ruhul Amin Howlader MP, Mr. Latifur Rahman (Chairman & CEO of Transcom Group), Mr. Noor E Alam Siddique, Mr. Md. Abdul Karim (former Principal Secretary), Mr. Suhel Ahmed Chowdhury (former Commerce Secretary), Dr. Md. Abdul Mazid (former NBR Chairman), Major Gen. Syed Muhammad Ibrahim (Retd.) etc. were among the distinguished guests present in the reception. Among the foreign diplomats, the Deputy High Commissioners from British and Australian High Commission and Deputy Ambassador of Japanese Embassy were also present in the event.
