IBFB Delegation passing busy days in USA

On 04 June 2013, the delegation had a meeting with US Commercial Service of Federal Government in Los Angeles. Mr. Rachid Sayouty, Director of US Commercial Service of Federal Government in Los Angeles led the US side in the meeting where Mr. Bobby Hines, International Trade Specialist was also present. In the meeting Bangladesh delegation emphasized on continuation of GSP facility and other steps to help Bangladesh RMG sector, the delegation also advocated for opening an office of US Commercial Service in Bangladesh.

On the same day the delegation also had a meeting with Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce where Mr. Carlos J. Valderrama, Senior Vice President Global Initiative was present in the meeting. Los Angeles Chamber opined that more and more business delegation from Bangladesh should visit USA. During the discussion the delegation requested US Business people to visit Bangladesh in place of China and other countries, as the cost of the product will be cheaper in Bangladesh because of cheap labor.

It may be mentioned that Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce is one of the oldest Chamber having its origin going back to last 125 yrs and enjoys a very important position in USA. The chamber is considering a proposal of partnership with IBFB.

In the same evening the delegation also attended a reception followed by dinner organized by US-Bangladesh Business Forum (USBBF). More than 100 businessmen having very important positions in USA business circle were present in the reception. Mr. Firoz Fakhry, Founding President, US-Bangladesh Business Forum (USBBF) and Mr. Manzoor Chowdhury, President, US-Bangladesh Business Forum (USBBF), received the Bangladesh delegation with warm reception. Mr. Mahmudul Islam Chowdhury, Founding President of IBFB and Leader of the Bangladesh delegation apprised the meeting about various research and advocacy jobs preformed by IBFB. US-Bangladesh Business Forum (USBBF) has expressed interest to work with IBFB in future.

On 07 June 2013 the delegation had a meeting with Richardson Economic Development Partnership in Texas. 

On 09 June 2013 Bangladeshi Business community in Dallas hosted a reception in honor the IBFB delegation at Downtown Dallas in Texas. 

The delegation will also attend in several meetings with the Department of State, Office of Secretary of Commerce, American Chamber of Commerce, Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) in Washington DC. They will reach New York on 14 June 2013 and attend different meetings with US-Bangladesh Business Partner (USBBP) and American as well as Bangladeshi Business Leaders. They will visit United Nations Head Quarter on 16 June 2013 and will meet Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations on 17 June 2013.

The delegation will come back to Bangladesh on 20 June 2013.
