The International Business Forum of Bangladesh (IBFB) held a Discussion Session on its recent research findings on ‘Public Service Delivery and the Business Environment’ on May 16, 2009 at the Hotel Agrabad, Chittagong. Mr. Dilip Barua, Hon’ble Minister, Ministry of Industries, GoB was the chief guest.
Mr. M. A. Malek, Editor, Dainik Azadi, Mr. Sufi Mizanur Rahman, Chairman, PHP Group and Member, IBFB, Mr. M. A. Salam, Senior Vice President, Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCCI), Ms. Monowara Hakim Ali, President, Women Chamber were also presents as the distinguished discussant on the occasion. The Result of the study was presented by Honorary Consul General of Thailand and Member, IBFB Mr. Jasim U. Ahmed. Mr. Mahmudul Islam Chowdhury, President, IBFB and former Mayor, Chittagong City Corporation and Member of the Parliament, preside the session.
Mr. Dilip Barua emphasizes on Industrial Development through the important role of the private sector in Bangladesh for proper improvement of Public Service Delivery. He agreed with the IBFB research findings. He said that corruption is a problem that continues to affect Bangladesh and it is one that the current Government is seeking to address. That’s why current Govt. give importance on the economic diversification from trading economy to industrial economy. By modern industrialisation we can use our huge manpower for better Bangladesh; because economical strengths can keep sound political, social and business environment.
As a distinguished discussant Editor, Dainik Azadi, Mr. M. A. Malek present some case study related to the IBFB’s findings. He said that to keep the country move with the economic strengths at first power supply should be sound for smooth running of the trade and business. He suggested for changing mindset to remove the corruptions.
In his speech as a distinguished discussant Mr. Sufi Mizanur Rahman emphasized on love to nation and uprightness and way of thinking. He said there’s no investment need, real need is making opportunities.
In the opening and closing speech, Mr. Mahmudul Islam Chowdhury, President of IBFB spoke about IBFB and what it does, explained how the research was conducted.
