IBFB holds Discussion Session at Khulna
The International Business Forum of Bangladesh (IBFB), a non profit and non partisan organization, held a Discussion Session on its recent research findings on “Public Service Delivery and the Business Environment” on Friday, 12 June 2009 at the Hotel Royal International, Khulna.

Mr. Talukder Abdul Khaleque, Honourable Mayor, Khulna City Corporation (KCC), was present as the Chief Guest and Mr. Mahmudul Islam Chowdhury, President, IBFB and former Mayor, Chittagong City Corporation, chaired the session.

In his opening speech, Mr. Chowdhury, President of IBFB spoke about IBFB and what it does, and explained how the research was conducted. According to the study, the most problematic sectors as opined by the businesses included the Power Sector and the Law Enforcement Agencies. He further reiterated that the research was conducted in an unbiased and neutral manner. He also added that when these findings were first revealed at Dhaka and Chittagong, it was followed by several suggestions and so he expected the participants of the Khulna Presentation to also follow suit. The results of the study were then presented by Mr. Hasanur Rahman Chowdhury, Executive Director, IBFB.

Mr. Farhad Ahmed Akhand and Mr. Fahim A Faruk Chowdhury, Directors of IBFB, Professor Shahnewaz, Khulna University, Ms. Ruma Khatun, Mayor, Panel-3, KCC, Mr. Shahid Iqbal Bithar, Former Director of the KCCI, Mr. Shah Alam, Counselor of Ward-7, Mr. Mahbub Kaiser, Counselor of Ward-29, Ms. Afroza Zaman, and Counselor of Reserved Seat, along with Ms. Mubiura Akhter, Ms. Shahida Begum Rokeya Faruk, Mr. Masud Hossain and Khulna Representative of BSS Mr. S.M. Zahid Hossain also spoke on the occasion.

The programme was also attended by concerned Government Officials and think tanks, and eminent business personalities of Khulna.
